Historia Rzezi Wołyńskiej - zbrodni ludobójstwa, dokonanej przez nacjonalistów ukraińskich na Polakach z Województwa Wołyńskiego II RP, podczas okupacji terenów II Rzeczypospolitej przez III Rzeszę, w okresie od lutego 1943 do lutego 1944. Historycy szacują, ze zginęło wtedy ok. 70 tys. Polaków, a kolejne 60 tys. Polaków zamordowali ukraińscy nacjonaliści na terenie Małopolski Wschodniej. Apogeum ludobójstwa przypadło na 11 lipca 1943 roku. Na uśpione niedzielnym odpoczynkiem w pierwszych dniach żniw polskie wsie i chutory, na wiernych zgromadzonych w katolickich świątyniach spadły pociski, granaty, butelki z zapalona benzyna, ostrza wideł, kos, noży, siekier i pogrzebaczy. Nie było obrońców, bowiem w wielu miejscowościach pozostały w większości kobiety i dzieci...

CULINARY LESSONS - The Space of Food is based on a series of events, Culinary Lessons, which were hosted by the Städelschule Architecture Class and which engaged with the relation between food, art and architecture. This fourth issue of the SAC JOURNAL presents the central con- versation in Culinary Lessons, which took place in Venice, together with a series of texts and projects that chart and speculate on the relationship between architecture, art and the culinary wor- ld. GARDEN STATE - Cinematic Space and Choreographic Time is the third issue of the SAC JOURNAL and explores the garden as a utopia wherein time and space may be thought of in archi- tectural terms yet not easily deciphered against architecture's traditions and practices. The garden herein is a changeable and vulnerable condition, embodying the ephemerality of life, which in turn contrasts with the customary expectations of architec- ture's longevity. However, Garden State also engages with the contemporary arts, specifically video, cinema and ballet, and with it time and space open up with new, fragile dimensions. A choreographic framework emerges which is at once more precise yet loose, more responsive yet open, than that space architecture normally engenders. Within a relatively short time, Augmented and Virtual Reality have emerged centre stage in architecture and the arts as novel means for exploring how their creative output is produced, mediated and experienced. The publication includes texts by, among others, Martine Beugnet, Michael Young, Curtis Roth and Lara Lesmes and Fredrik Hellberg as well as conversations that Daniel Birnbaum respectively had with Sanford Kwinter and Sven-Olov Wallenstein. In addition, a series of visual portfolios by architects and artists presents works. Finally, the publication features the award winning projects of Städelschule Architecture Class' AIV Master Thesis Prize 2019. The issue has been edited by Yara Feghali and the editorial team of the Städelschule Architecture Class.
